Kick the Can
In high-top shiny button shoes
She sat with toes turned in.
And shyly watched the other kids
As they kicked the can of tin.
Oh, how she wished that she could play
And run and squeal and hide
But wishing wouldn’t make it so
In wheeled-chair she did ride.
There are so many gleeful things
A healthy child can do.
But one who’s life is limited
Needs love from me and you.
